The birthday fun got started a little early when we had a surprise party for Tiare!

The cake was a flourless chocolate cake that Tiare had found the recipe for in a really fun book that her Aunt Julie gave her long ago that has a whole section on party planning. Tiare had actually planned the whole party out in one of her notebooks that she loves writing in. She had made a guest list, planned out a menu that included yummy items like toast fingers, chips, and the cake. She had all of the games that she wanted to play planned out too. She is a wonderful planner!

Opening the presents...

The game LIFE was by far her favorite present. Here we are all playing it after the party...

A birthday kiss from Tiare's favorite doodle...

Tiare's actual birthday morning started out with a scavenger hunt for all of her birthday presents. Here she is reading the clue book that I made for the scavenger hunt...

Here she is finding the one hidden by the toaster. I forget the clue I wrote for it...something like where things pop up each morning or something like that.

She opened each present as she went along in the scavenger hunt...

Here's the next one hidden where we keep the cereal...

Here's Atticus sad because he didn't get a present...

Oh yeah wait a minute he did get one!
Here's Tiare's yummy birthday breakfast...

Later that night, we had a "family birthday party"--meaning Tiare's favorite dinner and another cake.

Our good friends the Weights came over and it was really fun!

What an awesome birthday! The scavenger hunt for gifts is a really great idea. It's funny, Delaney recently saved up and bought the game of Life, too, so we've been playing it a bit around here. Happy Birthday, Tiare!
Wow...can I come celebrate my birthday with you guys?
