Flat Stanley in our New York Apartment

Tiare likes to tell people that we have a three room apartment (actually her word for apartment is compartment). People always say something like, wow, a three bedroom apartment. Then, Tiare corrects them and explains that we have three rooms total in our apartment. In the above picture, you can see two of them--the living room/dining room/kitchen and peaking through the doorway, the bedroom.

Since all of the walls are white, we thought that we'd stick with the minimalist theme and cover the couch white too--kind of Dwell modern small space in New York right?

Ok, the college dorm furniture sort of interrupts the above stylistic trend, but oh well, you work with what you've got.

It has actually been great to not have much with us. Each of us has one drawer of clothes. Each kid has two stuffed animals and a few books, and their scooters. Chris and I have our computers and a few books. We each have a blanket, a pillow, and a towel. Much less time spent managing messes when there just isn't a lot of stuff to make messes with!

This picture is dark, but you can see the view from our window--very different than our views back home! The light in the apartment is great! We really love this neighborhood! We live on the 7th floor, and so we take the elevator at least 4-6 times a day. We were talking the other day saying how funny that was since we hardly ever take elevators at home. Tiare and Atticus said that they are totally used to it now. The kids really are adaptable. You should see them crossing streets, riding subways and crowded buses. It's great to see.

We miss Ramona. Her work this semester is guiding our work this summer. We wish she were here for the weekly meetings. Her cheery smile and good ideas are sorely missed. BUT I needed a Ramona fix so I checked out the flat Stanley tour with flat Stanley's amazing tour guide companion. It made me happy to see how much fun it looks like you're having.

How fun! City life looks great. I am right now thinking of all the stuff I want to get rid of. How nice to be so simplified on your trip.

Did you know they have outrigger canoe paddling in NYC? The last Saturday in June is the Liberty Challenge; check it out!
